Top 10 Reasons Why I LOVE THIS GIRL !!!!
Top then reasons why I LOVE THIS GIRL !!!! Stece is not only my bbff (best best friend forever) , she is my cousin and pretty much a sister to me. Although she lives all the way in MTL- being reunited with her is one of the things I look forward to the most. There are way more than 10 reasons why I love this girl but again, want to keep with the theme and make it as easy to understand as possible.
  • TOP 10 REASONS WHY I LOVE YOU STECE

  • 1- You are a prime example that dedication and hardwork do pay off- she had a dream and stuck to it and now she is seeing her dream come true as she is preparing to become THE FLYEST CROWN PROSECUTOR I have ever seen. LOVE YOU

  • 2-Whenever we go to the mall no matter the weather- we always gotta make time for ice cream cones... lol

  • 3-When we were kids and I would get in trouble by my dad- she would always stand up for me and fight for my rights, lol - my dad is pretty stuborn didn`t get her far but she always tried anyway

  • 4-When I was a teenager and she was a preteen - I would make her call people`s houses for me and pretend she was me. She would always do it !!! LOL

  • 5- She is one of very few people who can tell me the truth exactly like it is - whether I want to hear it or not and I will listen to her.

  • 6- I love her because she is the only person who I will listen to butcher a song in english on purpose- and sing it outloud.

  • 7-She is the only person I know who will ask every sales person in the store their opinion before buying an item.

  • 8- When we were kids we really thought she was psychic cause she could guess the shapes other people would pick in silence, sitting crossed legged-eyes closed.

  • 9-When we were kids we would take dancing lessons- and at every family party we would create a choreography for them lmao

  • 10- She taught me the most important thing EVER- having prejugements on someone or something - should never been done. She looks at everything without judgement and I love her for being able to do that.

Love you Stece and so proud of you love !!!!!!

Top Ten Reasons Why I LOVE THIS GUY !!!!!!
I decided I would introduce a new segment to this blog, where I would highlight the people I love in my life. Although there are more than 10 reasons, I figured keeping it at 10 would make me pick the best of the best. Also I would like to mention that I picked this picture because it highlights some of the stuff in the top 10 reasons why I LOVE LESLIE WRG???? (N.B. Please don't be offended if I haven't done you yet, this happens to be the first one as I am in MTL)
  • Top 10 reasons why I Love LESLIE WRG?
  • 1- When I first met this guy- we went to a club in MTL and there was a dude dancing with a girl on a speaker- they were hitting me while dancing. Leslie yanks the guy off the speaker cause it was bothering me. That's when I knew he had my back !!!!
  • 2- Because Holiday Season is nothing without eating Christmas Dinner at Leslie's house
  • 3- Once we went to see one of my aquaintances at a club in MTL - dude was being mean all night, once we got there dude was trying to make nice by making me drink from his bottles. Leslie was like "Nah man, don't take that drink, DON'T DO IT- he'll think you are not mad" so I didn't take the drink and on we went to eat poutines...lol
  • 4 -While at the same club- we were clearly the minority in there - as everyone was white(nothing wrong with that- just stating facts) then out of nowhere a dude yells NIGGER !!! Leslie grabs him by the collar and makes him apologize to me for using that word. LMAO
  • 5- Once I was seeing a guy -who obviously thought I knew he was seeing other girls. We all agreed to go to the club together in mtl, well him and I. He shows up with a girl and I show up with Leslie. I was so hurt when I saw that. So Leslie was my team player- he started hitting on the girl the guy came with, which gave me time to understand what was really good? lmao When that didn't work we just pretended we were together lol Good times.
  • 6- Once on NYE in like 2006 or something - we went to a random frat house for a party and then ended up having a snowball fight outside of Dunn's- SO MUCH FUN
  • 7- Leslie knows everyone in MTL- one time we even went to Starbucks and were able to get anything we wanted for FREE !!! LMAO
  • 8- I love him because he's like a brother to me and I am glad we are good friends - he always has my back and tells it like it is !!!!
  • 9- I love this guy because once in Toronto years ago he decided it would be a good idea to take the shot glasses at a club and I thought he was crazy but 5 min later I followed him. lol
  • 10- I love this guy because before Ecko Fest he came to my work and spray painted the parking signs - SILLY GUY !!! Like it was nothing lol
  • All in all, always a great time with Leslie. Especially during the holiday season. Whether it be playing Monopoly and WINNING !!!! LMAO or catching jokes with him and his sister... or eating Christmas dinner at 4 am LOVE IT ALL- you are and will always be a really good friend to me. As I finished typin this-I remembered the best of coming to Leslie's house is his sweet grandma-she just made me breakfast.

Is it better to have had and lost, or not have had at all?
Watching "Sex And The City" reruns the other night, I heard this quote and it left me in deep thought. "Is it better to have had and lost, or not have had at all?" Sometimes I find this question very debatable. I spent most of last year thinking "NOT HAD AT ALL" lmao. Looking back into 2008 and anything that no longer is, on the brink of the new year, I have to wonder. If those people, things and situations are not here at this present time, do I wish they never happened or I never met them at all? After careful consideration, I decided that for me, it would be better to have had and lost. Every situation, person that entered my life whether lasting or not, has left me with a lesson to carry on. So, yeah I lost some friends, I lost some loved ones, I broke some hearts, had broken hearts, said the wrong things, felt like life gave up on me, have had people misjudge me... (list goes on) In the end I wouldn't trade it for the world, although at the time I would have begged to differ, probably wanting to crawl under my bed for eternity.
  • The point that I am trying to make is that SHIT HAPPENS !!!! When it does happen, no matter how bad, there is always a lesson to be taken from it. To not have had it at all, would mean that we would deprive ourselves from learning. We would also prevent ourselves from taking risks, when sometimes we give it all we have, not knowing what we will get in return.
  • I think its a great thing to be armed with the mentality - that is better to have had and lost. That way, when/if we do lose it. We are prepared to view the situation in a positive light.
  • So even when you lose the one you thought was your prince charming, you lose your best friend, you lose pieces of yourself or who you were. There is something about going through those moments that make us a better person and help us persevere through the next hurdle.
These are just my thoughts...This year has been all about losing and change for me. With each person that came and went, also came a great opportunity. At first I thought I would trade it all just to have them back, now I realize that this is just the way it was supposed to be all along. If you really believe with all your might that you are better than the bullshit, you will miraculously always have a way out of it.

I'm coming home AGAIN !!!!!!
Been a minute since I blogged- I been trying to tie up loose ends before the end of the year. As that's done now, I prepare for my trip back home- to Montreal for the holidays. I can't wait- should be there within the next 48hrs. I am really excited to see the fam, friends and party like nobody's business lol. Get in touch with my roots again. EAT TONS OF FOOD !!!I am very excited for 2009- I anticipate it more than I have ever anticipated the coming of a new year. I feel a change coming, I know this because for once I started planning for the coming year before the current one is over. This is usually how I am January 1st. This year has been great - no complaints- it was a year of growth and building. Finally I feel like I have all the necessary pieces to take off... Look out for more info in 09.For now, I need to stop procrastinating and go pack my stuff for MTL. Can't wait to share with you all the fun I will have. It's always good to be back home. I know it sounds cliche but home is really where the heart is.
  • I would like to wish everyone a Happy and safe Holiday Season !!!! May you cherish the people you love and be thankful for the little things.
  • Love D.

Random funny ass shit

  • So... I came to the internet cafe today to print out some stuff. The most random funniest shit happens. I sit down minding my business ready to do my thing. (Please keep in mind before reading that there could be a communication barrier as- the worker here is korean and learning to speak english.)

  • Then I hear louder then my headphones this conversation:

  • Random lady "THE INTERNET IS NOT WORKING"

  • Worker: "Yes it is you keep closing the window- you closed it three times already"

  • Random lady "WHY ARE YOU STARING AT ME - ALL I WANNA DO IS SEND AN EMAIL"

  • ----At this point I am forced to turn around cause she is being way to loud and I wanna give her the "SHUT THE HELL UP" look.

  • Worker: "YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING-YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE INTERNET"

  • Daniella: RFLMAO (trying to keep it in)

  • Worker (comes to me) "Can you please help this lady I don't think she can understand what I am saying because my english isn't so great"

  • Daniella ---- Thinking to myself what am I a translator for Korean to English

  • Anywho so I go over to the lady to see what her problem is

  • Daniella "What's the problem????"

  • Random Lady "I just want to send an email"

  • Daniella "Ok what website are you trying to go to gmail, hotmail, yahoo"

  • Random Lady "I don't know anything about programming I just want to go on the internet and send an email"

  • Daniella "Ok.... what's your email address?"

  • Random Lady "I don't have one"

  • WELL !!!!!!!! HELLO- THERE IS YOUR PROBLEM LADY !!!!!!!!!!!! WTF LMAO LMAO I try to explain to her that she needs and email address- to no avail. So I just kept it moving and started laughing to myself. CRACK KILLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danny Fernandes - Fantasy Video
I love this kid, it is a pleasure to work with him. Most appreciative and polite artist I have had the chance to work with. Sometimes we spend a lot of hours working and he is always putting in work; without complaints. It really helps you go the mile when you work with an artist that appreciates it. Also mad love for the CP guys, they treat a girl like a Queen, almost like my boys in the office treat me.
Check out this video- LOVE IT !!!! It's at over 40,000 views in 5 days !!!!!!!Looks amazing, RT did a great job directing this, as usual. Shoutout to the Bossy Girls for putting the looks together. Shoutout to all my clients for letting us get all this amazing gear. And of course last but certainly not least and first in my books CARLO - LOVE YOU HUN !!! SHIT SON !!! LOL

N.E.R.D - Sooner or Later Video
Sooner or Later video !!!! I love this song. I think this album was slept on- if you still aren't convinced check it out. This video is pretty cool too- kinda goes with the economic state in the US and now Canada.

Mais qu'ils sont beaux les mecs...
Malcom Gladwell- Blink
I love reading... Anyone who knows me can attest that I devour books !!! Especially good ones. I am currently reading Blink and am finding it very interesting. This books comes from Malcolm Gladwell, the same author who wrote The Tipping Point in 2000. Blink, focuses on "Thin Slicing" now I would get into explaining it but then I would give it all away. In a nutshell- the book discusses how spontaneous decisions can sometimes be even better than pre planned ones- when you learn how to make decisions by "thin slicing". I like this book because it touches on various sectors to drive home the point from: science, advertising, sales, medicine and music.
  • Gladwell explains that when we blink we think without thinking- that act of doing that is called "thin-slicing" which is using a bit of information to come to a conclusion.

Anywho- I cosign this book- if you haven't read The Tipping Point read it first then read Blink.

Maroon 5- Call And Response : The Remix Album

I have been a fan of Maroon 5 from day one. When I heard they were releasing this album - I thought, here we go another artist putting out a crapy remix album. Don't judge a CD by it's cover or title for that matter. This album is great. It features remixes by some great producers including: Mark Ronson, Questlove, Pharrell Williams, DJ Quik, David Banner, The Cool Kids, Cut Copy, Dj Premier ANNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD of course Ali Shaheed Muhammad and (our boy) DOC. Check this album out- the remix are pretty off sweet.

My favorite tracks are:

  • Sunday Morning - Questlove
  • Makes Me Wonder- Just Blaze
  • She Will Be Loved- Pharrell Williams
  • Better That We Break- Ali Shaheed Muhammad & DOC

Colin Munroe - my homegirl Joyzee et moi
The show was AMAZING !!!! Had tons of fun- I normally don't like to ask artists to take pictures but I just had to. LOVE YOU COLIN !!! So I grabbed my girl Joy and asked her to wip out her camera so we could capture the moment. Can't wait for this album :-)
Cuban Art - Nuit Blanche
Nuit Blanche was a while back I know- I never uploaded any pics. I went to one exhibit that really caught my attention- unfortunately I can't remember the artist's name at the time. (I have the card at home somewhere) This was my favorite one. What made his art dope is that all of the paintings had a transparent fence over the image- to represent that although the characters in the painting look happy- they were still in cages and in prison. Things that make you go hmmmm......This just reminds me of being a little girl and swinging away...
Autralia Love Collective
So not only did I get the dope boots- but it came with a cute eco friendly bag- as well as a cute key chain. MERCI BEAUCOUP !!!
Gsus- head office in Toronto
We love the good people at Gsus- they put on the dopes fashion shows during L'Oreal Fashion Week. Charlotte and Everton always take care of us. Last week I was in their office and warehouse and couldn't stop taking pics. Their office is cooler than ours ... The bike is pretty cool too- I guess its the cooler version of our brainstorming skateboard.
MAC MAKEUP
Australia Love Collection - shows me some love !!!! :-)
YEAH !!!!I love goodies. My good friend Ken at Turner PR hooked me up, I got today in the mail a pair of boots from Australia Love Collective- SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO comfy. The inside of the boot is made of sheepskin - oh la la !!! Feels so soft :-) If you don't know about them check out the site and get with the program ! Australia Love Collective Thank you KEN !!!!

Keyshia Cole "A Different Me"
I don't think they could have picked a better album title. When I look at Keyshia - I feel like she has grown and matured. The transformation from the first album to now her third is insane. I wish her nothing but the best- keep pressin on through the BS ! I like the direction of the new album. They are really tailoring her craft and her image for maximum potential. Lovin' it. I think she has reached a new level of her career and she has a lot of ears tuned into her - beyond her current demo. Hear snippets of "A Different Me" Album in stores December 16th.
OJ
I just don't know what to say about this? Did he deserve it? Is it Karma? Was he falsy accused? Who knows? Was it fair that Nicole's family was there? Was it a set up? All I know is the last time this man was in a court room- he walked away from something that many people thought he commited. I still don't know- I wasn't there, although there is a lot of suspicious behaviour surrounding the case. Man OJ I hate to say this but maybe you walked into this one. He has been sentenced for 15 years after his latest "unfortunate tale".
Where art thou?
I saw this pic on a blog and I had to post it for many reasons, other than the obvious. I really wonder what this guy has been up to - other than getting in a whole bag of trouble. Is there a comeback as I hear. I don't know, I gotta see it to believe it. What's this - with "I found my smile again" that was on the Space Jam soundtrack- being your new single???? That song is mad old. Although it's one of my favorite tracks ! PROVE OUT ! lol
Keisha Cole killing the national anthem at the fight
Killin' it... her voice sounds so clear.
Christmas Nostalgia
So... I usually go to Montreal for the holidays to be with family. I prefer to do my shopping there, it's more fun to do it with my cousin then alone. Today however, I did go to the mall to use up some Gift Cards on some gifts. The mall was really busy today !!!!
As I walked through the mall- the scent of Versace Blue Jeans Cologne just took over. Immediately I was distracted from my thoughts and brought back to the memories of someone I knew who used to wear that all the time. Isn't it crazy that scents can remind you of someone and the exact memories you had with them no matter how long. How nostalgic, I hadn't smelled that cologne in years and I recognised it with ease.
I wonder how many of my perfume scents leave people reminiscing about me ?
More chances than I deserve
It's funny how things work out sometimes, if you believe God always has a way of working mysteriously when you least expect it. Sometimes I think he has given me more chances then I deserve. It sounds silly I know but I do some dumb shit sometimes and God always pulls me through. Somehow, someway !!! So I guess then if we believe and always try our best- then things will always work out. Now I am not saying that doing the same dumb things a million times will always grant you a second chance but I am sure we can all personally admit to having a guardian angel that grants us peace during hard times.
Thank you God for always coming through for me when I felt alone and felt no one was in my corner. :-) Now I can exhale - learn the lesson and move on. Never stop believing because once you do, that's what makes it next to impossible to leave room for God to make change in your life. I know this might be a bit to preachy for you on a Sunday but believe me at the rate that I do dumb things sometimes- if there wasn't a God to save me through all of this, you would be seeing a much different me. Because of the many opportunities I am given to change, I know that God is watching over me.

Twelve Ounce- Cool Call
So... Another cool call. A couple of months ago I was on a mission to "cool call" everyone. I called Rocksmith Tokyo in NY- (MAD COOL PEEPS)- they hooked me up with clothing for artists, all from a "cool call". They also introduced me to this girl name Mira- who works out of MTL and reps Rocksmith Tokyo and tons of other cool brands under Twelve Ounce. (She always hooks it up) Later on I thought- I met her before- and long behold I did meet her before. While in Montreal last Christmas my buddy Leslie and I were watching The Wire at his house- and in drops in Mira. Now fast fwd to this year and I end up doing work with her. WIERD OUT !!! Cool none the less. She has a blog called The Cupcake Chronicles and she wrote about the care package I sent her :-) Cute !!!! Check it out here The Cup Cake Chronicles. I felt for her when her itunes got swiped, I know I would be pissed off. Here's to all the cold calls turn "cool calls" that are mad cool to deal with and just GET IT !!!
Adidas- Cool Call
I like to blog about clients that are down and get what we do. Today I went to the Adidas head office with Danny and CP , after making a "cool call" - some like to call it cold call. They are cool calls to me cause they always turn out to be MAD COOL !!!! Anywho turns out the lady there new Ivan but WHO DOESN'T. That's always a good ice breaker. Turns out I called at a perfect time, for the first time EVER , they have dedicated today and tomorrow for CDN bands and artists to come by and select stuff for Spring 09 and Fall 09. Not only that but they get a pretty decent allotment of stuff to pick from. So I was able to get Danny in there today, he picked out tons of cool Adidas stuff !!!! I love meeting with a client from a "cool call" that just gets it. You know the clients that understand your needs without you needing to draw them a map. She loved Danny and not only that but understood the relationship between Fashion and Music. She also understood the importance of elevating and supporting CDN talent with International brands. LOVED IT!!!! Now I have to mention she is not the only client of mine who is this way- but I had to give props to Adidas cause they hooked it up BIG TIME !!! I am looking forward to working with them in the future !!!!!!

I messed up
In starting this blog, I always said that I wanted it to be a true reflection of me. That being said I think its important to talk about the victories as much as the failures. Not only the times where I fail myself but those when I fail those I care about. Today I failed a friend of mine, not intentionally but I brought that person disapointment in me.( Some of you may be saying TMI well its not like I am explaining the who's and why's. I am having trouble sleeping and this is my therapy.) I too fall sometimes, I do stupid shit sometimes, I hurt people sometimes and it all hurts me. I am sorry for the hurt and disapointment I caused. I am hoping that this will come to pass. My intentions were to look out for self- real talks- and in the process I didn't realize I would be hurting you. Again I am sorry. I accept full responsibility no BUTS. This was writen as a reflection that all that glitters is not gold and being human I am not ashamed to admit when I fuck up.
Real Friendships
When I was younger, I guess you can say I found myself in a lot of trouble. Lucky for me- I always had great friends to support me throughout. Whether it be my boys in ssauga that always had an open door and shoulder to lean on. Then I met my two homegirls who are by far- my best friends. Always there for me no matter what.
I remember meeting my BF Nai in college and I had just been kicked out, living on my own at 19. It was really hard on me. I didn't know how to cook jack shit ! lol She taught me how to wip up some wicked meals with close to nothing. I remember once she even made beef with Syrup. Sounds gross but it was really good. When I felt that I was all alone and had no one she was always there. Eventually - I stayed with her fam for a bit- it was the best experience I could have asked for. I will always be greatful for that. Staying with her and her family taught me a lot about what family values were, how important it was to cherish family ties. (not that my family didnt teach me that- but my immediate family wasn't teaching me that- the rest of my fam was out of the country)
Those experiences couldn't have come at a better time, sometimes I found it odd that I had to be at her house at a specific time to have dinner with the whole fam, I was a bit nervous. I wasn't used to that at all. Later on I understood how valuable that was.
Saturday I had the pleasure to go back to her house and have dinner with her family. She has also gotten engaged so it was exciting to see her. After all this time- the house still brings back so many memories, where we sum up all our experiences in our early twenties by "Been There, Done That, Got The Tattoo" lmao. Her family was still as welcoming as always and I felt so comfortable being there, it was a much needed reset, it is as though I was in my second home.
I am forever grateful for the friendship that we developed- I think it helped me overcome a lot of things growing up and opened up my eyes to things I never knew. I still feel very guilty for not going to see her fam when she is in NJ- but after this weekend I decided that I should go more often and say hi. To be honest- I didnt think anyone cared whether I did or not.
I love you girl- and I am so happy that we are still friends. You have taught me so many things- I doubt you will ever know just how much. Congratulations on your engagement - here is to growing up. Just like you like to remind me on every birthday of mine- "YOU ARE OLD NOW" LMAO Real talks though- you will make a great wife and your fiance is very lucky to have you in his life.
Cheers to real friendship !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. We need a new pic that one is dead old lol
